Event description

Description

A 3 hour inspiring and uplifting workshop exploring the spontaneity and unpredictability of cut-up poetry. Create imaginative poetry easily and quickly!

No previous experience required. All welcome.

David Bowie used cut-up techniques extensively to create his song lyrics and likened it to a 'western tarot' full of unpredictable insights and illuminations. My own exeprience of cut-up led to some surprising insights which you can read about here.

At this workshop, I'll be inspiring you to create your own cut-up poems and mantras and excavate any hidden meanings that may emerge and how they can inform our lives and enhance our creativity.

Suitable for anyone & everyone from beginners to experienced wordsmiths who want to explore different techniques or give their writing some unpredictable va va voom.

We'll explore:

* A brief history of cut-up poetry

* Spontaneity, creativity, play and unpredictability

* Rip up loads of magazines!

* Opportunity to share works (but no obligation to do so!)

* Create several cut-up poems

* Explore any hidden messages and insights that may occur.

* Tips to keep creating imaginatively

Please bring a magazine/leaflets etc to rip up and any other materials you wish eg. pens/washi tape if you fancy blinging your work. And a notebook.

Scissors, gluesticks, pens and other paraphenalia will also be provided as well as more magazines for you to rip and create with! And cups of tea and biscuits.

(if you are unwaged/low income/in reciept of benefits - please contact me here for a reduced ticket)
