Words Over Water Trinity College Sunday
Event Information
About this event
This is the last of the three current poetry and music performances in Dublin by these excellent artists, it is hoped that along with some poetry and song there will be meaningful interaction and discussion between the performers and members of the audience about what it means to be European and how brexit affects, not just Scots and others within the UK, but our European family too.
Scotland in Europe (SiE) was originally set up in 1991 in Paris and in 1992 was inaugurated in Glasgow along with STAGE (Scottish Talent Across the Generations Events. On the 30th anniversary, Scotland in Europe and STAGE are holding music and literary events in Dublin, Paris and Berlin. This is to reinforce Scotland’s socio-political, economic, environmental and, most importantly for SiE and STAGE, our artistic connections in Europe. These crucial connections are in real danger of being lost due to BREXIT – something Scotland did not ask for. We remain Europeans.
For over three decades, Scotland in Europe has aimed to promote art and artists, mainly at a grass roots level, in Scotland and elsewhere in Europe. The specific areas of art we work in are: Music, Literature, Drama and Photography. The Words Over Water tour will concentrate on Music and Poetry.
Poets are: Lesley Benzie, Donna Campbell and Linda Jackson (touring as Wanderlust Women), and also Norman Bissell, and Joe Murray.
Music and song is by: Tam McGarvey, Louise McAtee and Linda Jaxson.
