Tim Wallace | www.ambientlife.co.uk
Tim is the driving force and creative thinking behind Ambient Life. As an award winning photographer his work is often described as both conceptual and dramatic. Tim is very well known within the automotive car industry for his creativity and open approach and he is regarded by many as one of today's leading commercial automotive car photographers with a unique strong style of work and creative approach that inspires not only his clients but also their customers – something that was reflected recently when he was awarded 'International Commercial Advertising Photographer of the Year' and 'Car Photographer of the Year' at the Industry Awards. Shooting campaigns for car manufacturers such as Peugeot with their recent ‘Fractal’ concept car for its campaign and launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show Tim's work is well respected for its originality and quality. In recent years, Tim started to expand his business into new fields such as the aviation industry.
Tim's work has been published all over the World and he has beenreferredd to as one of most creative photographers within his specialised field of commercial automotive photography. A man who greatly inspires others, not only within his own industry but beyond, Tim's view of all this is a little more straight forward, a man who's very well known for his down to earth attitude, his feet are very firmly on the ground. His desire to produce creative work has driven him from a very young age at the point he first picked up a camera.
"Photography is for me simply a creative passion, the ability to use light and form to capture in a single solitary image what I see within my own imagination at that point in time…”
This class is based around how you effectively put together a body of work to approach the market professionally. It will take an in-depth look at what it really takes to build and effective portfolio. How we do that and the choices and decisions that we have to make along that journey as well as how that is presented, where that is presented and how to make it work for you better than just a collection of your best images. This is not just a talk about ‘portfolio’s’ this is a seminar on how to not only create that but also how you then use that to gain commissions. What ‘different modes’ of portfolio you need in your armoury and why. It is great to have a good body of work that you can show off but it is often the case that the work that you are showing is not hitting the mark with your prospective clients, that is because you are not looking at this from their point of view. Tim has a solid reputation for being a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the business of commercial photography and this talk looks at the mindset, attitude and best approach mechanics so that when you do have a good portfolio to present then you are a lot more fully aware how and where to do that.
The session will also talk about licensing and copyright. Many people are really unaware of this and it is a crucial element to understand as a working professional in the commercial sectors.
How we can use those too not only increase revenue but also how to use those effectively to actually gain clients. The session will also look at how you deal with clients or companies when your copyright is infringed, how to do this effectively.
