Workers rights: A new landscape
By Kilgannon & Partners LLP
Overview
Interactive session on the new Employment Rights Act reforms: timelines, consultations and practical steps for HR/in-house lawyers.
On the agenda
Just before Christmas, the UK Government’s flagship Employment Rights Act came into force.
It contains the most wide-ranging reforms to our employment law for a generation, with significant implications for all employers.
Please join us for an engaging and interactive session to discuss what changes are coming (and when), what is subject to further consultation and the practical steps we think HR professionals and in-house lawyers should be considering now.
We will be focusing on the areas that are likely to be most relevant to the day-to-day operations of most employers:
The Big Three:
- Enhanced dismissal protections – unfair dismissal rights, collective redundancies and restricting “fire and rehire”
- Flexible working
- Anti-harassment measures and restrictions on non-disclosure agreements
Other significant changes
- Family-friendly rights
- Zero-hours / low hours contracts and agency workers
- Statutory sick pay: Removal of waiting period and lower earnings limit
- Extending time periods for Employment Tribunal claims
- Trade union reforms
The timetable:
- What do employers need to be preparing for now?
