Event description

Description

The West of England Combined Authority (WECA) will be launching Workforce for the Future shortly.

The £8m Programme aims to support SMEs to use the skills system to better prepare and plan for, as well as take a much more active role in realising, their workforce of the future. It should improve the system, making it easier for SMEs to understand, navigate and use, helping them meet current and future skills needs.

The Programme is funded through the European Social Fund, matched with WECAs own Investment Fund. It operates under Investment Priority 2.2 of the national ESF Operating Programme. WECA will be the co-financing organisation, taking on a strategic role in managing the Programme; delivery of activity will be through selected consortia.

Focussed around a single output measure - an SME support - and delivering a single result - a meaningful completed project - Workforce for the Future is a flexible revenue fund that can address a range of issues, leaving a lasting, sustainable legacy.

This event will provide an introduction to Workforce for the Future, an indicative timetable and a range of other useful Programme details including what a successful consortia bid might look like. It will be appropriate for any organisation that is working with SMEs to help them meet their skills needs, or those working with learners and seeking to find meaningful work-based placements.
