Working It Out – Co-Parenting in a Positive Way

A 4-week virtual programme supporting healthy co-parenting relationships

Parenting is a rewarding but often challenging role—especially in today’s world where financial pressures and everyday demands can heighten tensions. When conflict between co-parents becomes frequent or unresolved, it can affect the wellbeing of children and young people.

Working It Out is a 4-week virtual programme designed to support co-parents—whether living together or apart—in developing positive, constructive relationships that keep children at the heart of parenting decisions. Delivered by the Family and Relationship Support Team, using evidence-based approaches from our RPC Toolkit and parenting programmes, this programme offers a safe space to explore how adult relationships impact children, and how to manage conflict in healthier ways.

Who is it for?

This programme is for anyone in a parenting role—including expectant parents, foster carers, grandparents, single parents supported by other adults, and those in blended or extended families—with children aged 0–19 (or up to 25 with SEND).

What to expect:

Each session includes:

• A mix of theory, group discussion, and practical strategies
• Opportunities to reflect on your own experiences
• Tools to support better communication and reduce conflict
• A focus on keeping children’s emotional wellbeing in mind

Sessions are delivered virtually. Attendance at all sessions is essential to gain the full benefit. It is a requirement to have a working camera throughout the sessions.
