From the 21st - 25th November 2016 inclusive, Working Knowledge are partnering with Harrow College to run Stage One of an ambitious programme to dramatically improve the career opportunities available to all 1900 students at the college.
We know that for our economy to grow the workplace needs a steady stream of work-ready, eager, confident, creative and ambitious new young employees, but to achieve this, we need your help since as educators we cannot know what actually happens in your industry and more importantly what skills and attributes are required of new young employees or indeed freelancers/entrepreneurs.
What happens on the day?
As a specialist social enterprise, we don't ask our Volunteers to give speeches or presentations or prepare anything before the day. Interactive and hands-on, this day will take students on a journey into the world of work. Your role is to share your experiences and opinions, and give the students an insight into what skills they need to succeed.
You can watch a video from a similar day by clicking here
You will work with small groups of students for short periods of time in a structured way with the support of college staff. Each 50 minute session will be repeated up to five times during the day. Lunch will be provided.
Is this opportunity right for you?
We are looking for professionals that have personal experience of ‘its not always what you know but who you know’. Has your career flourished alongside the professional relationships you have developed? Do you use LinkedIn as a tool for networking? Have you attended networking events, conferences or exhibitions? Do you have formal or informal advisors or mentors that have helped you at any time in your career?
