About this event

Join Chata the golden retriever, our canine co-host, for a fun, Family Friendly workshop exploring how animals and humans work and live together.

Using the museum’s collections for inspiration, we’ll share stories, crafts and conversations to help us think differently about what ‘work’ looks like from a dog’s perspective – from police and therapy dogs to canine influencers and brand ambassadors.

The event will include:

  • Live storytelling from Chata’s day at work
  • Creative stations including badge making and drawing
  • Group discussion about what work means for dogs
  • Family reflection zones for thinking about the dogs in our own lives
  • Take home activity sheets

Led by Dr. Helen Wadham (Manchester Metropolitan University) and Dr. Maisie Tomlinson (University of Manchester) as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2025.

Suitable for ages 5-13 (under 16s must have an accompanying adult)

  • All materials provided
  • If you require British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation please contact access@phm.org.uk or 0161 838 9190
