About this event

Business • Career

Working with children & young people means having a lot of contact with them, ranging from young babies through to older teenagers, depending on the occupation you are in.

There are many types of careers that involve working with, or at least coming into frequent contact with children, including work in health, education, social care settings, and many other types of job, not considered child based but which still involve meeting children & young people as part of the role. Jobs range from those requiring few qualifications through to professional level work where a degree and specialist training is needed.

For all roles working with children, you need:

• the ability to relate to children from all sorts of backgrounds - and often their parents/carers

• good speaking, listening, and for some roles, written skills

• to be patient, understanding and caring

• plenty of common sense and initiative

• to be observant

• a responsible and dependable personality

Working with children requires background checks to be completed as you would be working with vulnerable people.

Come to our webinar to find out:

• the sectors where child practitioners are employed

• the entry pathways possible including college, apprenticeships or even university for some careers

• the qualifications that can enhance your prospects for entry and career progression

• where to look for jobs, apprenticeships and other learning opportunities

Subject to availability, we aim to bring in a representative from the childcare sector to talk about their experience and give insights into the work and opportunities

This event will be delivered via MS Teams.
