Our course is suited to those already in the children's workforce and those completely new to it, such as:

Each unit consists of five hours of training over a single day (four days for all four units). As such, participants are free to book the four days of training either consecutively, or in blocks to suit their personal requirements and schedule.

Unit 2 - Managing Challenging Behaviour

This unit is all about understanding the causes of challenging behaviour in the context of child development and exploring strategies for working with children and young people that display challenging behaviours:

  • Identifying positive and challenging behaviour

  • Ages and stages - child development in context

  • Rules, rewards and sanctions

  • Effective behaviour management strategies

  • Skills for working with children and young people

  • Developing a career working with children and young people.

The Managing Challenging Behaviour unit will provide participants with new skills and equip you with the basic understanding you need to enter into a role (paid or voluntary) working with children and young people.

Additional Information

Course participants will also be signposted to local Careers information, advice and guidance services in order to facilitate access to opportunities to work and volunteer in the children's workforce.

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance, which will be sent via email once they have completed each unit of training.
