Location: Online - MS Teams
This 3.5 hour course is for workers and volunteers from all sectors who want to increase awareness and understanding of the experience and impact of domestic violence and abuse on LGBT+ people, and improve response.
Learning outcomes
- Understand the experience of domestic abuse for LGBT+ people
- Recognise additional barriers for LGBT+ people in accessing support and services
- Gain awareness of additional considerations needed for identifying and supporting LGBT+ survivors of domestic abuse
- Develop skills in responding, signposting and using appropriate referral pathways
Prerequisites: Please note we encourage all professionals to attend Understanding and Responding to Domestic Violence and Abuse - which provides a comprehensive understanding of responding to domestic abuse for all survivors and will enhance the value of this session.
Please be aware that this session will contain some reference to types of domestic abuse. It is recommended that the session is attended in a quiet and confidential space.
