Description

This training is for practitioners who work with Lambeth residents only. Priority will be given to practitioners who work in Lambeth.

Trainer: Respect

Respect is the UK membership organisation for work with domestic violence perpetrators, male victims of domestic violence and young people’s violence in close relationships. Respect provide the Men’s Advice Line helpline service for male victims of domestic violence and train frontline services to support male victims. They also run an accreditation programme for services working with perpetrators and support Domestic Violence Prevention Programmes to affect behaviour change in perpetrators.

This course aims to increase participants’ knowledge about male victims of domestic violence and abuse and their experiences, including how male victims’ experiences may differ from women’s experiences and the barriers they face in their help-seeking.

Objectives

By attending this course, participants will:

  • Become more aware of the experiences of male victims
  • Gain an understanding of men’s help-seeking barriers
  • Explore how to respond to male victims’ needs
