Description

The mission of Re:shape is to keep communities safe by reducing the risk sexual harm. Our goal is no more victims. We do this by empowering the community to ‘be the change’. With support from volunteers we offer interventions to people who are a potential risk, deliver education & awareness sessions and offer a tailored service to businesses. Core to our approach is the belief that we all have the power to make a difference within our community.

In this face to face training course, you will gain:

* Increased awareness of the types of sexual offending and the Criminal Justice System

* Different typologies of those who commit sexual offences

* A clearer perception of the relevance of desistance theory in the community

* Develops skills and emotional resilience when working with offenders

* Enhanced ability in understanding risk when working with offenders in the community

* Identify the barriers of working with someone who has committed a sexual offence

Who’s this training for?

This is an introductory course for anyone who is working frontline, in a paid or voluntary capacity. You do not need any experiencing of working with those who have caused sexual harm to attend the course.

Feedback from people who have attended the course previously

"All feedback received from team members was that the training was extremely helpful in giving staff the tools and knowledge of how best to support sex offenders. It also gave an insight into some of the behaviours and warning signs that staff should be aware of, if an offender is at risk of reoffending. It also reaffirmed that the work we are already doing to support all individuals leaving custody, is the same framework we would use when supporting sex offenders i.e. building social capital using the “good life” model."

"The training was excellent, Staff now feel more confident in knowing how best to support sex offenders in the community and how communication and partnership working is essential in order to prevent no further victims."
