About this event

This online course is suitable for professionals working with and supporting young people with the autism profile of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). Although primarily targeted towards mainstream, SEN or autism specific schools, it would benefit all professionals working with young people aged between 5-16yrs.

This basic introductory session will look at:

  • What is PDA?
  • What are demands?
  • The effects
  • Helpful approaches
  • PDA & Education
  • Resources/signposting
  • Q&A

Participants may find it helpful to have watched our 23 minute introductory webinar prior to attending the training:

Please Note: any legislation discussed is related to England and delegates joining from other locations will need to consider their own local legal requirements. The PDA Society reserves the right to substitute published speakers should unforeseen circumstances arise.

This is an online session, being delivered on Wednesday 12th October 2022 lasting 1hr 45min from 3.30pm-5.15pm. We recommend that you join 5-10 minutes prior to the start to ensure your technology is working correctly as we will be unable to delay the start due to the number of delegates we anticipate attending. All delegates should have access to the chat function. Please note the session is not recorded and is only delivered 'live'.

Ticket Price: £40 per delegate, payable in advance (plus Eventbrite fees). If you require more than 5+ tickets please do contact us as an in-house programme may suit you better.

If you have any additional needs that may require assistance during the session, please do let us know at the time of booking, in order that we can discuss arrangements in advance. Thank you.

After booking, please remember to check your e-mail (messages may be forwarded to your spam/junk folder) for a confirmation receipt from Eventbrite sharing a link for registration. Eventbrite will also send reminders prior to the course taking place.

The PDA Society is also able to deliver a more in-depth online course specifically for professionals within education, over 3hrs (delivered in 1 session or over 2 x 1.5hr sessions) that expands on the general 'helpful approaches' of this shorter session and looks at strategies for the classroom in more detail.

Please do contact our training team via email if you'd like more information about this course or would like to organise training for parents, or professionals working within other sectors eg. health or social care.
