Working With The System - Finding Our Way Through Complexity
What is this workshop about?
Work contexts can be so complex these days. It’s easy to lose our bearings, yet we still have to influence within our organisations and work constructively in partnership with multiple stakeholders. Understanding our own responses to this kind of complexity makes more sense when considered in the context of what’s happening within the wider system.
Systemic mapping and constellation approaches are a way of surfacing hidden dynamics. They work at a ‘felt sense’ (embodied) level and this is what makes them different. First used in family therapy, systemic approaches are now an accepted part of change and development work in organisational settings.
This fun, interactive workshop will offer a taster of how systemic approaches can lead to more transformational conversations. Acknowledging ‘what is’ is the first step to finding a way forward.
Why this subject
Most organisations have to collaborate and partnership working is never easy especially when there are cultural differences.
An understanding of the organising principles of systems can be hugely helpful. Mapping and constellation techniques offer a different way of looking at things, and are particularly useful when things are stuck. These approaches can be used in both 1-1 and group settings.
About Eileen Moir
During many years working in health and social care in clinical roles to directorships, Eileen developed a deep interest in working with, and leading change in complex organisational situations. Later her interest turned to helping teams find their way through organisational complexity to improve services. Eileen's last role with the NHS was Executive Director with the body in Scotland that leads on healthcare quality improvement.
Building on this experience she set up TurningTides to help people and organisations navigate complex change. She has an MSc in Management and an Ashridge Masters in Quality Improvement Leadership. Eileen is an accredited executive coach and trained in Systemic Coaching and Constellations.
