Funded through the Royal Countryside Fund, and in partnership with Water Resources East, this workshop will introduce farmers to Nature-Based Solutions and how they can be utilised to protect, manage, and restore ecosystems, including water and soil.

Climate change is intensifying both drought and flooding in Norfolk, creating a growing challenge for the region. Rising global temperatures are disrupting weather patterns, leading to longer, drier summers that reduce soil moisture and strain water supplies. At the same time, heavier and more frequent rainfall events are causing flash floods and overwhelming drainage systems, These increasingly common weather events are increasing pressure on the county’s agriculture, infrastructure, and natural ecosystems.

In this workshop Farm Environment Advisor, Nathan Walker, will introduce and share more details about what Nature-Based Solutions are, and how they can be strategically used across the farmed landscape to protect and enhance farmland and neighbouring communities.

Within this workshop, we will take a short walk to see NbS in action at Salle Estate, and hear from their team and the University of East Anglia as to the impact they are having on the farm.

Following the workshop, farmers and landowners will receive a satellite-generated map of opportunities for NbS and have the opportunity to speak to the NFWAG team and enquire about having a funded walkover survey conducted on their land.

Due to the funding of this workshop, we request that external organisations register a maximum of one representative.
