Working with Young People with Additional Needs in a Youth Work Setting

Aims of the session:

  • Gain an understanding of what needs to be considered around the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) agenda
  • Look at key characteristics of people living with Autism, ADHD and other common conditions
  • Identify triggers which may adversely affect those living with SEND within your youth work setting
  • Identify moral and ethical boundaries
  • Learn how to develop approaches which will enable your youth provision to be inclusive to all young people
  • Grow your understanding of safeguarding within a SEND environment
  • Discover practical ideas in order to develop projects for young people with SEND




Free to members of SCVYS or Support Staffordshire. Spaces are limited to two per organisation.

Refreshments will be provided but please bring a packed lunch.

Please note that even though the course is free to members of SCVYS and Support Staffordshire, if you reserve a place and then fail to attend on the day you will be charged the full cost of the course.

If you arrive after the course has begun, you may not be able to take part.
