Event Synopsis

Organisations are reporting up to 1 in 3 members of staff have experienced bullying in the workplace, so what do we need to do to make a difference?  Employers are responsible for preventing bullying and harassing behaviour, so why are the support systems failing so many people?

Often hidden from statistics through lack of reporting by employees, and accountability by employers, it has a tremendous impact on both the individuals involved, and the productivity of the workforce as a whole. This session provides the opportunity to learn from someone who has experienced this for themselves, and offers space for debate about this difficult issue.

Come and join this session looking at different ways of tackling workplace bullying:

  • Hear first hand about the professional, personal and emotional impact of being bullied in the workplace
  • Discover the many different forms that bullying can take
  • Intention versus perception - what is the reality?
  • Explore the bullying relationship and its impact on both individuals and the business
  • Examine some of the flaws in the existing processes
  • Contribute to the debate for change
  • Explore the legislation that covers bullying with Marie Walsh, Director and  Employment Soicitor at Consilia Legal

Who should attend?

• Anyone who is involved in leading and managing staff

• Board members who may be involved in high level grievances

 • HR Directors

 • HR Managers

 • Organisational Development professionals

 • Occupational health professionals

 • Anyone who has observed bullying in the workplace and wants to understand more

About our Speakers

We are delighted to welcome Nicki Eyre who is delivering this topic around the region for us:

"A varied career path, from finance to education to the charity sector, eventually led to redundancy and the discovery of both transformational, and equine facilitated coaching. From here, Nicki Eyre Transformational Coaching was born!

Coaching comes in many forms, and it’s important that you find a coach that you connect with, both as an individual and in the approach used. Transformational, or developmental coaching is at the heart of everything that I deliver. This approach explores current and past influences from both personal and professional lives that shape behaviour. I have a real passion for exploring workplace values and behaviours, and particularly for tackling bullying.

I’m also qualified as an Equine Facilitated Coach – just think of the horse as an additional coach! It’s allowed me to combine my work with my lifelong passion for horses. When not at work, you’ll find me out walking my gorgeous blue merle border collies.

Find out more by visiting my website: www.nickieyre.co.uk"

Nicki will be joined by Chair of our Skipton Group, Marie Walsh from Consilia Legal.

Booked a place and can't attend

We do reserve the right to charge a £10 no-show fee for those who are unable to attend who do not contact us with apologies (except in exceptional circumstances).

All of our branch events are organised by volunteers who give up their time freely to provide CPD opportunities for others in North Yorkshire, events are funded through branch funds, and our speakers (who at most receive expenses only) give up their time freely to prepare and present their sessions. With this in mind, if you do book on an event and find you’re no longer able to attend – please email nyork@cipdbranch.co.uk and give your apologies to those involved with the event – we really do appreciate this, especially in advance where possible as this might allow us to avoid catering wasteage, but if it’s an unavoidable last minute cancellation we’d still like to hear from you.
