Description
The National Opera Studio encourages creativity, adventure and risk. Directed by one of the world’s leading opera directors, Graham Vick, Works in Progress invites you to reflect on the nature of the creative process, the magic of making, and the rehearsal room as laboratory. Scenes from operas by the visionary Michael Tippett, through
Mark-Anthony Turnage, Thomas Adès and Adam Gorb, to one by Ryan Wigglesworth for English National Opera where the ink is barely dry, present a platform to stretch young artists and audiences beyond their comfort zones.

“Expertly devised and brilliantly executed, it revealed a dozen multi-talented artists with both the voices and the acting ability to make useful careers; and demonstrated that the work of six living composers, performed at this professional level, has the power and poignancy and wit to communicate with an audience.”
Nicholas Payne, Director of Opera Europa on the NOS Contemporary Scenes 2015
