Event description
This one-day workshop will give you an overview of how to take technology out of an academic setting and into the real world

About this event

During this one-day workshop we will:

  • use examples from local start-ups to practice spotting opportunities for innovation and understanding gaps
  • look at how start-up businesses have developed their products and take part in idea-generating exercises

After participating in the workshop, you should be equipped with methods to help you spot entrepreneurial opportunities, or indeed create them yourself! The knowledge and skills gained can be applied to all research areas and disciplines, not only those with a science or technology focus.

This workshop is the first in a programme designed to develop entrepreneurial skills and business acumen across a broad range of disciplines.

Due to the latest advice about social distancing, this workshop will be delivered online.

Who should attend?

The workshop is open to academic researchers at the University of Bath who wish to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and build skills that can be applied to their own research. Academics at all levels of professional development and from every discipline are encouraged to sign up.

Places are limited, so please book early to secure your place.

The workshops are facilitated by Dr Ben Miles and Dr Maddy Nichols at Spin Up Science, and Dr Ali Hadavizadeh, Acorn Biz Solutions, with support from Research and Innovation Services (RIS) and the Doctoral College at the University of Bath.

The Programme is funded by UKRI-EPSRC awards to the Doctoral College and through the Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) at the University of Bath.
