About this event
A creative introduction to weaving (3hr) on the Rigid heddle loom. In this class you can explore different types of patterns, learn about fabric structures and play with colour and texture while trying out a variety of yarns to make your own unique handwoven wall hanging artwork. The aim of this taster workshop is to give you a feel for the wonderful craft of weaving and is suitable for complete beginners to the craft.
A little about the tutor...
Amy Wilson of Liliane Textiles, Hertfordshire. Amy has over 20 years of experience in textile design and has been weaving for the past 12 years. After graduating from a fashion textiles degree at the London College Of Fashion (2003) she then went on to establish her own design practice. Amy returned to education (2008) to complete a woven textile design degree at Norwich University of the Arts and has recently completed a five year fellowship with ‘Digswell Arts’ based in Hertfordshire (2019) She has been running textile courses, classes and workshops in colleges, arts centres, at Digswell arts and for local groups since 2012 as well as working on woven sample designs and her own collections of hand woven cloth
Southern Maltings is the trading name of Ware Arts Centre Limited and is a registered charity (Registered charity no. 276998).
