Event description

Description

Diversity is key to your success as a technologist.

The facts are simple: the technology you build should represent your users. It is not only important to have a diverse team of tech talents, it is also important to take your users into account when you build it.

If you're nodding your head, this workshop is for you. Keep reading.

The Bacchao Project, Open Knowledge Belgium and BeCentral are happy to bring you a hands-on & insightful workshop called "Building Tech for Diversity and Inclusion".

The workshop will take the participants around the fundamentals of designing technology that takes the diversity of its intended uses into account and includes these users with active participation. It's designed for developers & funders who want to rethink their technology.

During the full day hands-on workshop, you will look into "Manual for building technology for diversity and inclusion" written by The Bachchao Project. The manual is published under open license and is available on Github.

Firstly, you will deep dive into everyday apps and technologies that could be built by the participants or used widely and document how to improve them. Secondly, you will take these learnings into consideration to reflect on your own project.
