Event description

Invitation to workshop to discuss the supply of HMRC data through DWP

Are you a user of any of the following data which the ONS receives as an annual supply from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)?

  • Migrant Worker Scan
  • Child Benefit
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Paye As You Earn (PAYE)

If you are then you may know that this data is actually owned by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and supplied to DWP who then supply the data to us through a data sharing agreement. Traditionally ONS have not had a legal basis for receiving data from HMRC however now that the permissive powers of the Digital Economy Act are in place providing a legal gateway through which we can access administrative data we in Data as a Service (DaaS) are looking into switching the supply of these data from DWP to HMRC.

Before any decisions are made we need to make sure that we have consulted with all of the users of this data so we have arranged a workshop on the 24th January with rooms in both Newport and Titchfield, you can book your place here. The workshop will be focused on discussing current uses of the data, whether needs can be met by both suppliers and any implications of changing supplier.

Due to limited space we can unfortunately only accommodate a maximum of two representatives from each business area.
