Event description

Description

Saffa Khan is an illustrator and print maker exploring the themes of home, identity, race, culture and mental health. She translates daily feelings, conversations and intimate thoughts into self-published printed matter and runs a small DIY arts and zines press + distro @tenderhandspress.

Part one: A mini journal making session on the theme of self-care; to help organise your daily tasks, set achievable goals, learnt or improve on new skills and document all feelings. Participants will learn to DIY a mini journal using limited resources, which they can customise with reminders, notes, lists and thoughts.

Part two: Participants will be asked to respond to the theme of belongingness, migration, adaptation and home, whether as a safe, familiar space or a place that no longer provides comfort. This could be through illustration, poetry, mark making or writing. The submissions will then be put together towards the second issue of Longing For Home zine and released at a later date.
