Performance designer and Queensrollahouse studio resident Lucy Algar will lead a workshop in which participants will be encouraged to draw in response to movement and to consider the possibilities that drawing offers when designing sets and costumes for performance. Lucy will be joined by dancer/choreographer Kirill Burlov and 2 more dancers.
All materials provided, please wear loose clothes that you don’t mind getting charcoal on!

We will use a wide variety of drawing materials to encourage confident mark making and to allow the materials to suggest unexpected connections to movement. For instance, the flow of ink on smooth paper connects to fluid movement in quite a different way to charcoal on rough paper. The workshop ends with the drawings transforming into costumes and the performers will dance a celebratory finale. Time will also be given to discussion of the workshop findings.
These workshops encourage playful interrogations of the performing body through drawing and suit those interested in both visual and movement arts.
