About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Open to anyone interested in collectivity, rhythm, bodywork and the affect that unison has on us as either audience or performer. The session will end with an open discussion about the experience of unison as a dance tool. There are two ways in which you can engage with the workshop:

PARTICIPATE AS PERFORMER: learn a simple phrase & perform as a group for a critical audience, before an open discussion.

OR

PARTICIPATE AS AUDIENCE: watch & analyse a group performance, before an open discussion.

Wear comfortable clothing.

Light refreshments provided.

Prior registration via eventbrite essential.

Accessible venue with toilets.

Facilitated by Emma Lewis-Jones & collaborators

Supported by Jerwood X Fabric Choreographic Research Project 2025

Emma is a Glasgow-based artist exploring the extent to which regularity and failiure are intrinsic qualities of the foundational dance tool, unison. She is curious about unisons impact on spectator and performer alike, but also unison’s flaws and limitations in the contaxt of research-lead contemporary practice.
