Description

----- [Ticket fee will be fully-refunded after attending]-------

In this workshop, we will refer to Sir Henry Dale and MRC Career Development fellowships and consider writing techniques, such as key term repetition, writing a concise and clear lay summary and research summary (and how the two summaries differ), and producing a concise and compelling ‘Impact Summary’ section.

The workshop will be highly interactive and will include practical group work sessions where participants can analyse and discuss extracts.

Instructor

Dr Alison Yeung Yam Wah is an independent academic writing consultant. She has substantial experience of designing and delivering writing training to academics in various research institutions in the South East of England, including Imperial College, The Pirbright Institute and University of Surrey. Alison has delivered a number of writing workshops for the Society for Research in Higher Education (SRHE), and is currently working, as a member of the editorial and authorial teams, on a book series for researchers commissioned by Sage Publications Ltd.

IMPORTANT: Feel free to take your laptop and your fellowship and/or lay summary drafts. We will send the course material a few days before.

NOTES: Coffee and lunch (vegetarian) will be provided. We request a refundable deposit, that will be refunded (5-7 days after) if you have successfully attended the workshop.

The unclaimed deposits will be donated to this charity: https://www.magicbreakfast.com/
