Graeae Theatre Company is a force for change in world-class theatre, boldly placing D/deaf and disabled actors centre stage and challenging preconceptions.

Join us for a 3 hour workshop focussing on creative and inclusive collaboration. This workshop is aimed at practicing artists, but we welcome anyone with a passion for theatre-making. You will explore collaborative work and inclusion, the benefits of collaboration within theatre and creative tools to use in your own practice.

A 3 day mini-festival of theatre, dance and comedy by artists and companies with and without disabilities.

The festival’s opening night - a cabaret evening - will feature comedy from TANYALEE DAVIS (Live at The Apollo, Abnormally Funny People). The Saturday evening will feature dance performances, including the award-winning MOXIE BRAWL. And the third and final night showcases new theatre, including Unlimited commissioned artist ABY WATSON, alongside a guest performance from Olivier Award Winner URSULA MARTINEZ, with Viva Croydon!. The whole festival is hosted by DISCO DISCO - Croydon’s company of artists with learning disabilities.

Other artists and companies include Non Applicables, Caldonia Walton & Katharine Richardson, Reach Theatre and Whimsy.

Local Croydon company SLiDE Dance will present two pieces of work, including a solo piece and a performance by their youth company.

British Sign Language poet and Visual Vernacular performer Zoe McWhinney will perform at the opening cabaret night. Alongside this, Love Language will be providing integrated British Sign Language across the Friday and Saturday evenings, alongside communication assistants to facilitate conversations between d/Deaf and hearing audience members and artists.

Beer will be on sale from our wonderful friends Ignition Brewery, and we’ll have an amazing front of house team trained specially for the festival with our partners Willow Learning for Life and Mencap.

All events at the festival are free (booking advised) and take place at Stanley Halls in South Norwood.

Accessibility: The building is wheelchair accessible, with accessible toilets. Seating is cabaret style, with moveable chairs, and all on one level. Performances on the Friday and Saturday evening, as well as the Saturday afternoon workshop with Graeae, will be British Sign Language interpreted by Love Language. On the Friday and Saturday evenings we will have BSL communication volunteers throughout the venue. We will have a specially trained festival front of house team, who will be on hand to advise audiences on all access issues.
