Event description
Create your own unique monoprint in this fun, creative workshop led by print-maker Jackie Curtis

About this event

Monoprints are one-off unique prints; you do not create a permanent block so there is no carving or glueing things down as a result, monoprints are flexible, easy and relatively quick to produce, but cannot be reproduced easily as you have not created a permanent block to print from.

In this workshop we will be using a small portable printing press to produce several prints using all sorts of materials from nets, lace, leaves, fabrics, bubble wrap, cotton buds, veneers etc. There will be plenty of materials supplied but you might like to bring some things of your own along - anything you think might have an interesting texture to print from (that you don’t mind getting covered in ink and is not too thick) e.g. Leaves, feathers, interesting fabrics etc. (They do need to be fairly dry because the press will find and push out any sap).

Booking and Information

  • Cost: £30, including all materials and a drink on arrival
  • For adults, all abilities welcome (suitable for beginners)
  • Please bring an apron or wear old clothes; the workshop will involve using water-based inks, but it will get messy!
  • A pair of scissors and a sketch pad/pencil would also be useful
