Event description

Description

This workshop aims to bring together leading interdisciplinary researchers applying systematic, theoretical and computational methods for the reliable physical, mathematical, and thermodynamic description of transport, reactions, and flow/exchange of energy or information in Complex Heterogeneous Systems such as (random) networks, (porous) materials/catalysts as well as novel media. This event shall provide a platform for sharing ideas, methodologies, and promising research directions and stimulate the interaction between researchers. Thanks to the highly interdisciplinary research of the Invited Speakers, the workshop promises to combine rigorous, mathematical and physical methodologies with state-of-the-art research such as variational and thermodynamic analysis, optimization and control, gradient flows, statistical mechanics, stochastic analysis, and novel computational approaches for the development of novel ideas and strategies to address topics of increasing relevance for science, engineering, and society, ranging from the fundamental undestanding of the capability of model formulations over the development of qualitative and quantitative measures for assessing the capability of neural networks (AI) up to design, control, and computation of Complex Heterogeneous Systems.
