Description

Workshop on the Future Energy in ICT Research Agenda

Tuesday, 15th of September, 2015, 0900 - 1700

Location: Engineers' House,
The Promenade, Clifton Down, Bristol
BS8 3NB, United Kingdom

The Workshop on the Future Energy in ICT Research Agenda brings together academic and industrial leaders to focus on the challenge of energy consumption in ICT. The main workshop event features presentations on current challenges and research in low energy of ICT from fundamental physics to HPC, and provides networking opportunities to discuss where attention should be focused. The future landscape identified by these discussions will shape the ICT Energy Research Agenda, recommending objectives and fields for future research and investment to be directed towards.

The preceeding training day (14-09-2015) presents the technological background of issues in ICT energy usage, across the full spectrum of research topics. The lectures are specifically prepared to present in a clear and understandable way an introduction to the role of energy in ICT devices and systems and are addressed to advanced graduate and postgrad students, postdocs, and researchers from industry with basic background in Physics and Engineering.

The following PhD symposium (16-09-2015) provides an opportunity for students to present and discuss their work, focusing on a wide range of energy minimization techniques, and for other participants to understand existing areas of research. View the agenda and register for the symposium on this page.
