Event description

Description

Aimed specifically at medical translators, this workshop will explore the complex area of therapeutic antibodies.

Our speaker is Dr David Matthews, an immunologist and head of BioTherapeutics at LifeArc. The BioTherapeutics team develops therapeutic antibodies – work that includes antibody generation, humanisation, affinity maturation and biophysical characterisation of candidates. LifeArc, a UK-registered self-funding charity, plays a key role in developing new treatments, medicines, diagnostics, technologies or information resources, and in helping to turn research into practical products that benefit patients.

Programme:

10:30 -- Arrivals and coffee/tea

11:00 -- Dr Matthews's first talk

12:45 -- Lunch

14:00 -- Dr Matthews's second talk

15:30 -- Coffee/tea break

16:00 -- Practical translation session*

17:30 -- Finish

* During the practical translation session participants will be divided into language groups to work on the papers provided beforehand, with Dr Matthews circulating among the groups to offer expert advice.

Plans for a post-workshop drink and evening meal will be arranged. Please note that the post-workshop drink and evening meal are not included in the workshop price.

Please also note that workshop participants should make their own arrangements regarding accommodation.
