About this event

Join facilitator Emma Brooks for a lively, inclusive workshop where we’ll explore singing techniques and the art of songwriting — no experience needed! Together, we’ll experiment with melody, rhythm, and lyric writing, before combining our ideas into an original group song. Along the way, you’ll learn tips for building confidence in your voice, unlocking creativity, and working collaboratively in a supportive environment. Whether you’ve sung on stage, only in the shower, or never at all, this session is all about having fun, trying something new, and leaving with a song that’s truly ours.

About Emma

Emma Brooks is a disabled and neurodivergent theatre-maker, director, choreographer, and performer whose work celebrates inclusivity, creativity, and access. Drawing on her background in both wheelchair and standing dance, Emma creates dynamic and adaptable workshops that blend movement, storytelling, and collaborative exploration.

Her experience spans directing and choreographing original productions, performing in a variety of theatrical styles, and designing workshops for diverse participants. Emma is passionate about ensuring that every creative space is welcoming, accessible, and empowering, regardless of ability or background. She integrates access-led practice into every stage of her work, from planning and promotion to delivery, ensuring that participants feel supported and engaged.

Emma’s artistic practice often explores themes of identity, resilience, and self-expression, informed by her lived experience as a disabled artist. She believes in the transformative power of the arts to connect people, spark imagination, and challenge perceptions.

In her work with CRIPtic Arts, Emma is excited to bring her energy, warmth, and collaborative spirit to each workshop — creating an environment where every participant has the opportunity to discover, create, and thrive.
