Workshop | Reframing Rejection with Nicola Warner
Overview
Embrace the power of perseverance, harness your passion for creating art and flourish through rejection as a disabled artist.
Drawing on performance studies, psychology, real-world examples and lived experience, the aim of this workshop is to delve into the art of rejection for disabled creatives.
The first half of the session will be spent exploring some theory around rejection, why the standard advice and self help re rejection does not necessarily apply to disabled people and a series of writing exercises examining our relationships to rejection.
After a comfort break, in the second half we will focus on building a personalised rejection framework which will be followed by a brief Q&A with Nicola.
After this workshop you should be able to:
• Discuss the theory and psychology behind rejection
• Explore your relationship to rejection as a disabled artist
• Create a personalised rejection strategy going forwards
