About the Exhibition · Ritual in Progress
Ritual in Progress is a design exhibition by Every Archive, part of London Design Festival 2025.
It explores how everyday gestures—eating, cleansing, socialising, mourning—evolve into rituals that connect material, spirit and memory.
Featuring 30+ ceremonial objects by Chinese artists and brands—such as ritual vessels, incense holders, tea sets and sacred lighting—the exhibition shows how objects act as spiritual agents, carrying intention and transformation.
Each object is presented with detailed cultural notes on its materials, techniques and historical roots.
The exhibition space itself is conceived as an evolving ritual site, with live performances, academic forums and cross-disciplinary workshops that invite visitors to participate and create their own contemporary rituals.
Organised by Every Archive, Ritual in Progress coincides with the launch of its debut print issue RITUS – order and respect, a magazine exploring the intersections of Chinese material culture and global contemporary design.
