Workshop: Sculpting in Thread - Reframing the Mantis Lamp

Join lighting designer & maker Riya Panchal and artist Nicole Chui for a hands-on workshop embroidering miniature paper versions of Meseme’s Mantis Lamp. No experience needed – take home your unique sculptural piece!

Reimagine Meseme Studio’s signature Mantis Table Lamp through intuitive hand-stitching on sculptural paper forms. Inspired by their collaborative CONCHA Embroidure collection which translated footballers’ movements into dynamic stitchwork, this session invites you to explore texture, form and personal expression through embroidery.

You’ll gain insight into the designer’s and artist’s creative exchange while crafting your own keepsake artwork (note: this is a sculptural piece without live lighting elements). Materials will be provided and hand-sewing on paper will be involved.

This workshop celebrates how craft traditions can be playfully reinterpreted in contemporary design.
