Cross-sector workshop on social housing, food security and population health

This workshop is bringing together practitioners from social housing associations, cross-sector food partnerships (including VCFSE organisations), and public/population health to engage in a multidisciplinary dialogue on addressing food insecurity and its associated health outcomes. Participants will examine the intersections between housing sustainment, access to nutritious food, and the prevalence of diet-related illnesses, with a view to identifying systemic barriers and opportunities for intervention within Cheshire and Merseyside.

Advancing Current Practice, Policy and Collaborative Solutions
The event will provide a platform for knowledge exchange and cross-sector problem-solving, emphasising evidence-based practices, data sharing and collaborative design of interventions and policy. A key objective of the workshop is to strengthen interdisciplinary networks that can drive long-term solutions to food insecurity and its health implications. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with peers and experts across sectors through presentations, facilitated panel discussions and group-based exercises. A healthy lunch will be provided as part of proceedings.

The workshop is being organised by Health Equalities Group in collaboration with NHS Cheshire & Merseyside’s ‘Housing & Health Partnership’, and is part of a broader project on whole systems approaches to overweight and obesity funded by Cheshire & Merseyside Cancer Alliance.
