Workshop: Thulisile Binda - A reflection on 'Hard but Fragile'

Join us Thursday 22nd May at Transmission for an immersive workshop with artist Thulisile Binda! This free workshop, delivered in collaboration with Project X, will be an opportunity to reflect and dive deeper into Binda’s DIG 2025 performance ‘Hard But Fragile’ taking place on Tuesday, 20th May at Tramway.

Binda’s performances are renowned for their raw physicality, distinctive musicality, and powerful narratives conveyed through the body. ‘Hard But Fragile’ uses the Sjambok in a series of whipping movements to create a kind of harmony and meditation, reflecting on how one builds strength from pain. The workshop will include a Q&A with the artist and an interactive activity. Snacks and refreshments will also be provided.

Workshop attendees will be given free tickets to attend Binda’s performance on Tuesday 20th May in preparation for the workshop. You must be available to attend the Tuesday performance in order to participate in the Thursday workshop.

The workshop is open to all; limited spots are available and will be allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis. If cost of transport to the performance and/or workshop are a barrier to attending, please get in touch with us at info@transmissiongallery.org to discuss monetary support. We will also have a Wellbeing Officer available on site during the workshop.
