Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP)
This session is designed for Aberdeen City Council staff to raise awareness of how ‘PREVENT’, as part of the UK counter terrorism strategy is intended to reduce the risk we face from terrorism, by promoting an understanding of their role in preventing people becoming terrorists and supporting terrorism and the importance of working in a pre-criminal space to protect vulnerable people.
Following the session, delegates will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of ‘PREVENT’ and the wider aims of Contest strategy in preventing terrorism before individuals are drawn into supporting or taking part in criminal activity
- Understand common vulnerability factors that can make individuals susceptible to radicalisation
- Recognise how to use existing expertise and professional judgement to recognise susceptible individuals and how their Prevent safeguarding duties relate to their current duties.
- Will be confident in noticing, checking and sharing concerns about people and understands the ACCs Notice/Check/Share reporting process.
