WORKSHOP: Use of meanwhile outdoor spaces for community resource
2nd May 2013
3.00 – 4.00pm
Groundwork, Lucy Webb & Naomi Pietersen
Groundwork London is working to transform up to 100 derelict, unloved outdoor spaces across east London; involving multiple landowners, stakeholders and community groups and individuals. Through this workshop we would like to share our experiences of securing meanwhile use of open spaces waiting for development and hear from others as to the challenges and successes they have faced.
About Lucy Webb:
Lucy Webb is an Area Manager at Groundwork London who has coordinated the development and delivery of a key number of projects across London within community development and regeneration. Such projects have included Groundwork’s Vacant Lot, Placemakers and No Particular Place to Go projects which support local residents to realise their open space project ideas through fundraising, skills development and operational advice. Lucy currently leads the Transform project whereby aspirations are to transform 100 neglected sites across east London into thriving community gardens, food growing spaces and recreation spaces.
Lucy has been working in environmental and community regeneration for ten years working within the public, private and voluntary sector to support those communities most in need.
About Naomi Pietersen:
Naomi Pietersen is Community Team Manager for the East London region and manages a multi-disciplinary team of delivery staff and a portfolio of community projects across the region.
