Event Details

This will be a facilitated LEARNING session with a maximum of 6 participants (plus me and Leah of course) and will cost £30 per head.

Based on my camera club session but with a small group rather than a paparazzi group we shall be looking at understanding how light works and how to control it, high key lighting and low key lighting. Throughout there will be opportunities to work 1:1 with Leah and get some high quality images.

Bring your instruction manual to the session ... better still read it beforehand, several times. You need to know how to set your exposure to manual, to control the APERTURE, EXPOSURE time and ISO setting ... we would normally expect to use the LOWEST ISO setting available on your camera

LENS: Focal length is not important, but if you can, aim for something around 75~100mm

FLASH: Not essential on camera as we shall be using studio lights. However you WILL require a means of triggering the studio lights. This could be
# a "Hot Shoe Adaptor" that fits on top of your camera where a flashgun would go and provides a cable connector to the lights;
# a small socket on your camera (usually on the side) to take a cable between your camera and the lights;
# a flashgun ... simple, low power, manually set gun is probably the best ... if using a modern flash that "talks" to your camera, again you need to be able to set it to manual, lowest power setting possible and turn off red-eye.

As a last resort you can use an on-board flashgun, but succcess is variable.
