Description

Bablake School and ConnectFutures

Are you confident talking about extremism and safeguarding with your students and fellow teachers? How is your school delivering the Prevent duty? How does safeguarding and mental health overlap with pastoral care? Would you like to be part of a local network of pastoral leaders sharing good practice in the West Midlands?

This short and sharp two hour workshop is intended to provide an overview around a very current topic and is will include signposting local teachers, safeguarding leads and pastoral leaders to resources around safeguarding, Prevent duty and mental health.

Session 1: (45 mins) The Prevent duty, tackling extremism and British values in the classroom with practical resources. Far Right and Extreme Islamist (Zubeda Limbada - ConnectFutures)

Session 2: (45 mins) E-safety and well-being: practical ways to promote digital well-being. From the school to the classroom (Maria O'Neill, Bablake School, Founder @UK Pastoral Chat)

Outcome: The session will be interactive and practical so that we can start to build teachers' confidence and share best practice around extremism using the knowldge of expert practitioners based in the West Midlands. The teacher led forum will be collaborative with themes around this topic addressed every two months so that we can build a local network focused on practical tools and good practice.
