Description

To help Bluebird Pictures celebrate their first ever World Cinema Film Festival, we will be screening Japanese film Battle Royale on May 23rd at the Boathouse creative studios in Barking.

'42 9th graders are sent to a deserted island. They are given a map, food, and various weapons. An explosive collar is fitted around their neck. If they break a rule, the collar explodes. Their mission: kill each other and be the last one standing. The last survivor is allowed to leave the island. If there is more than one survivor, the collars explode and kill them all.' Certificate 15.

This will be our final event in our masterclass and workshop series celebrating culture and diversity in the industry to coincide with our film festival and will be joined by BACKSTAGE UK for an amazing Q&A on casting and acting.

The World Cinema Film Festival is accepting short films, documentaties and animations under 25 minutes long that depict what culture means to you, to help celebrate the unique and diverse area of Barking and Dagenham where an amazing 137 different languages are spoken. There will be two winners one from the London borough and one from outside.
