About this event

Trafficking is a violation of human rights and is a serious crime as well as a significant risk to those being used in trafficking. Every year, thousands of vulnerable people including men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers. Victims often face revictimisation through traumatic post rescue experiences and legal proceedings, as well as the emotional trauma suffered through trying to repatriate back to their countries and families and integration into everyday life.

This event, aimed at the hotel sector, will be raising awareness of the experiences and action taken to prevent and protect vulnerable people who are at risk of trafficking.

Specialists in the field within the Met Police will deliver tailored presentations on Op Makesafe and Op Seascale designed at upskilling hotels on modern slavery. There will also be case studies from Tamar, a Westminster based outreach organisation who support workers within the sex industry, with a focus on those who have been trafficked.

The Safety & Security Manager UKI at Marriott International will explain what Marriott do to prevent and protect vulnerable people who are at risk of trafficking.

There will be additional specialists from the police and Westminster City Council for a Q&A panel and further information and training that is available to hotels and their staff.

The event will take place on 29 July 2022 in the Westmacott Suite at the London Marriott Hotel Marble Arch and will be accessible from 1.30pm with the opening speech at 2pm and finishing at 5pm.
