UNESCO World Heritage Site WALK - 4.5 miles EASY
Join Sarah, our experienced Blue Badge Guide and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct /
UNESCO World Heritage Site expert for an interesting and informative walk through this historic area packed with important industrial heritage.
We meet at the Court Yard Café off Castle Street where you can enjoy a tea, coffee and snacks before the off.
Our Coach will transport us to Froncysyllte where we start the 4.5 mile walk. Firstly by walking over Thomas Telford's industrial masterpiece, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct 1,007ft long and 127ft high above the fast flowing River Dee.
We'll visit the Information Centre, Trevor Canal Basin and then walk the tow path back to Llangollen.
The Llangollen Canal offers good views of the beautiful Dee Valley and surrounding countryside.
We'll finish at the Canal Wharf Café at about 1.30pm where we'll also see the horse drawn boats at work.
Meet - 8.30am to catch the coach at 9.00am.
ON ROUTE: we will be walking on the canal tow path, underfoot the paths are generally very good.
STURDY FOOTWEAR: is advised, bring drinks and snacks..
WEATHER: keep an eye on the weather in the days leading-up to the walk, a waterproof jacket / trousers may be needed.
DOGS: sorry NO dogs.
