Event description

Description

To mark World Mental Health Day 2017 we are delighted to be hosting an evening with Jonny Benjamin MBE and Neil Laybourn.

Jonny Benjamin is a mental health campaigner, writer and vlogger. In 2014 he launched a social media campaign to find the stranger who had talked him out of taking his own life six years earlier. The campaign ‘Find Mike’ led to a reunion with the real Mike: Neil Laybourn. Their story was turned into a television documentary, The Stranger on the Bridge, which aired on Channel 4 in 2015. The pair give talks on mental health topics and have presented their story to numerous groups and organisations around the UK.

The purpose of World Mental Health day is to raise awareness of mental health issues. It is a conversation EY is committed to taking part in, with this year’s theme of ‘Mental Health in the Workplace’ never more relevant.

The evening will be jointly hosted by Unity and the Mental Health Network and will explore the theme of support and the importance of fostering inclusive environments in the workplace. Following Jonny and Neil’s remarkable story, there will be a panel Q&A session where you will have a chance to join the conversation, with drinks afterwards, to continue the debate.
