Come and get a free bowl of porridge to celebrate World Porridge Day and learn about the amazing work Mary's Meals does globally.
FoSP will have a stand under the mural at St John's Church handing out porridge to anyone who cares to stop and have a chat. We will be there from 8am to 1pm or whenever the porridge runs out.
Porridge, of course, provides a hearty breakfast for people all over the world, but for over 549,000 schoolchildren in Malawi it is a powerful incentive to go to school and, for many, the only nutritious meal they will have that day.
At schools in Malawi where Mary’s Meals is working, each child is given a daily serving of likuni phala – which is a nutritious, vitamin-enriched maize porridge served in plastic mugs.
The porridge meets the children’s immediate needs by filling their empty bellies, but also attracts them to the classroom where they can get an education which can lift them out of poverty in later life.
So come along and embrace the autumn weather with a hearty bowl of porridge and inspirational messages of hope.

The Festival of Spirituality and Peace
Our aim is to encourage community by exploring diversity. We don't all have to agree but it doesn't need to be a problem. FoSP provides a platform for people to explore their own spirituality by engaging with other people's, to promote peace.
FoSP is one of Edinburgh's most exciting and diverse Festivals. It features 300 activities in 200 events across 15 venues each year in August. With top-quality speakers, conversations, performances, film, food, exhibitions, family activities, workshops, art, culture and more the festival is now looking forward to its twelfth year.
