World War 2 Airfield Cycle Ride

How long: 11 mile, approximately 3.5 hours
Suitability: Moderate level of fitness required. Children 10 yrs+, must be competent at cycling on roads.
Start: The public car park next to Attlebridge Station (along track to the immediate north of the station) Station Road, Attlebridge, Norwich, NR9 5AA
Finish: The public car park next to Attlebridge Station (along track to the immediate north of the station) Station Road, Attlebridge, Norwich, NR9 5AA
Getting there: The best way to access the start is by cycling along the Marriott’s Way. By bike: Attlebridge Station is approx. 8.5 miles along the Marriott’s Way from the start at Barn Road in Norwich. Its approx.4.5 miles from Drayton and 3 miles from Pendlesham Rise. From the other direction, its 1.5 miles from Lenwade and approx.4.5 miles from Reepham Town Centre.
There is a small car park with access for 6-8 cars.
Cost: FREE Booking required
Participants will join a historical re-enactor, who will be in the role of an RAF pilot, on an 11-mile cycle ride. This will take then around the boundary of RAF Attlebridge and on to RAF Hockering – a nearby secret forward ammunition storage facility in an Ancient Woodland. The guide will explain about some of the airfield features that can still be seen, and tell the participants about what life was like as a pilot stationed there.
Any other information: All children to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
