This evening World Wide Wednesday and the European Movement Merseyside host two influential women, who have both overcome adversity to play vital rolls for our region. At this time in history when many events of international importance are hitting the headlines, we hear from two women who have been in the forefront of the fight for equality and against a pandemic not experienced for a hundred years.
Liverpool Lord Mayor, Anna Rothery was raised in Belvedere Road, Toxteth, Anna was elected to represent Princes Park Ward in 2006 and went on to become Chair of Culture Tourism and Sport in 2010 – 2013. Anna made political history in 2012 as the first elected member to speak at the United Nations in Genève on Religious, Linguistic and Cultural difference.
Councillor Marlene Quinn, cabinet member St Helens, for Health and Social Care, will discuss the problems face by care givers during the Covid-19 pandemic. She will discuss the problems faced by local authorities by the pandemic and different advice given by local Public Health officials and PHE. She will also cover the liaison between social care and hospitals in the authority.
