Can interactive play help us understand how to transform power and oppressive systems in the pursuit for liberated world?
About this event
This event is part of the Worldmaking Beyond SOAS: Unlocking A Racially Just World Conference
Just Associates (JASS) works with SOAS alum Tasha Pick and Onyeka Nwabunnia in the building of an interactive game, whose central idea is to explore how to transform power and oppressive systems for a liberated world.
JASS will bring movement experience and theory rooted in praxis. JASS notes that they see this as a way of engaging and challenging SOAS students and staff to become more radically propositional in their scholarship through the creation of a movement-oriented methodology (the game) in collaboration with change makers engaged in the daily work of challenging power.
The development of a game as scholarship dedicates itself to the task of catalysing, recovering, inspiring, activating radical and liberating possibilities which is in and of itself transformational.
We believe we normalise oppressions in the everyday as a way of surviving. To make new worlds that are racially just we need to get ourselves into a state of radical imagination, and play is indispensable to that.
